Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cans cherry pie filling
  • 1 box cake mix
  • 12 oz lemon/lime soda

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  • Dump the cherries on the bottom of the pre-greased pan.
  • Sprinkle the cake mix over the cherries.
  • Pour the soda over the cake mix making sure to get it as wet as you can.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top of the cake is golden brown.

Notes

Serving Suggestions

  • Dump cake a la mode. Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
  • Chocolate syrup. I know it seems like overkill but chocolate and cherries just go so well together.
  • Nuts on top. Sprinkle on some chopped pecans, walnuts, or cashews.
  • Serve with coffee. This dessert is very sweet and needs something to balance it out, coffee is perfect for this.
